Blushing: The Go-To Guide

From over-blushing to a natural flush, the seemingly easy art of blush is much more difficult to grasp than it appears. Blush is the part of our makeup that fades the fastest, yet looks the most intense when it is on. So let me simplify for you: here is the guide to the perfect blush that lasts long but doesn’t overpower your whole routine.
Step 1: Cream or liquid blush
Start of your routine with a cream blush in order to give your face the initial dewy blush look. Some of my favorites include the Charlotte Tilbury Pinkgasm Blush Wand, the Saie Beauty Liquid Blush and the Rare Beauty Blush. These all have easy to blend formulas that leave a beautiful color on your cheeks but be cautious to start off with a tiny bit of blush and build up the coverage. You can always add more but you don’t want to start over your makeup just as your finishing off your base. You can blend this initial product with simply your fingers, or if you prefer a tool: a blush brush or beauty sponge.
Step 2: Powder Blush
After setting your makeup with powder, in order to solidify your blush-look and make sure it lasts all day, I recommend setting your cream blush with a powder blush. Just as we put powder after concealer, we should all be putting powder blush after cream in order to ensure the longevity of the products. I recommend the powder blushes from both Haus Labs and Hourglass.
Step 3: An optional glow
This final step isn’t a necessary one, but something that adds an extra something to my makeup routine and makes my cheeks look glowy and pink. I like using a pink-toned highlighter such as the one in the Dior Highlighter Palette to add a bit more glow and dimension to my cheeks. It looks stunning when the light hits my face and adds to that pink toned blush look that I personally love.
