Mascara: The Go-To Guide

ree

Though mascara tends to be the most loved product by makeup wearers globally, it is also one that I found particularly hard to grasp for a long time. We don’t want our mascara to be too clumpy, but we want our eyelashes to look thick and full. We want our eyelashes to look long and simultaneously stay curled all day long. For a product we have so many expectations from, it shocks me that people still just use a singular mascara, expecting to achieve all of these goals with one single product. Though I wish it was this simple, I have learned over the years that in order to get a mascara-look that is both long lasting and achieves these goals, you need to use multiple mascaras that help you achieve your desired look.

I like to start off with a volumising mascara at the root of my lashes in order to lift my eyes and make my lashes appear fuller at their base. I adore the Benefit They’re Real Mascara because it isn’t too thick but adds my desired amount of volume. I apply a coat of this products, avoiding the ends of my lashes and then allow it to dry a bit.

Then I go in with a lengthening mascara such as the L’oréal Telescopic Mascara or even the Tarte Tartlette Tubing mascara at the ends of my lashes in order to seperate my lashes while adding length and darkness.

My secret to beautiful eyelashes is after these two products dry, to take the lengthening mascara and apply it to the back of my lashes. This may not seem drastic, but it makes a major difference and makes my lashes appear less sparse.

You don’t need waterproof mascara to make your lashes last in your everyday life, though it may be useful in humid weather. I believe with a good setting spray such as the Urban Decay All Nighter or the Charlotte Tilbury Setting Spray, your lashes should lash you all day long.
